1. Moisturizing
Moisturizers are commonly used to reduce fine lines, smoothen and hydrate skin which may improve a patient’s social life, psychological satisfaction and quality of life.
2. Bathing
Skin blemishes are quite common in newborn babies. Their skin is very delicate and needs a lot of pampering and care. It takes a while for them to adjust to the external environment, especially during winter. Hence, their skin is extra sensitive and easily reacts to even the slightest discomfort. Taking good care is important to prevent probable infections and allergies.
3. Diaper rash
Diaper rash is usually caused by skin being exposed to moisture from urine and bowel movements (stool or poop) for too long. The moisture irritates the skin and then the skin starts to break down. The skin gets damaged when it rubs against the diaper. Chemicals in the urine and stool can further hurt the skin and could cause a rash. Irritated skin can be at risk for infection.
4. Diapering
Change your baby's diaper frequently to prevent diaper rash. Clean their bottom with water or a mild baby wipe and apply a diaper rash cream or ointment to prevent irritation.
5. Clean the body gently
Babies, particularly new-born, are still adjusting to their harsh surroundings. As a result, their skin is extra sensitive and reacts quickly to even the slightest discomfort. For example, irritants such as soap, shampoo, and diapers can cause a rash or breakout. As a result, their skin requires special attention. However, please keep in mind that every baby's skin is unique, and you should consult with your paediatrician if you have any concerns about your baby's skin.
6. Laundry
Laundry products often contain harsh detergents and fragrances which can irritate a baby’s delicate skin. Consider switching to products suitable for sensitive skin, not just for your baby’s clothes and bedding but for the whole family, think of all those cuddles, your baby’s skin will come into contact with your clothes and bedding too.
